Welcome!

This is my first post on this blog. I probably have tried to to start a blog over a dozen times. From trying to make my own blog engines, to using prebuilt sites. I feel like I want the perfect way to get my thoughts out into the world but in doing so I have really just blocked myself from actually writing anything. After nearly 3 years of deliberation I have circled back to using gohugo. Its something that I’ve messed around with for a while now. Its written in a stable programming language with lots of supporters and use cases.

About me

I am currently a 24 year that lives in Western Connecticut. I’m a college dropout, currently not working and have spent my days reading Russian literature and watching Youtube videos. Yea maybe not the most exhilerating way to live your twenties. I also have been sober from alcohol for 7 months due to an ongoing issue with anxiety and depression. Most people who know me would say that I’m maybe the smartest person they’ve met but have made nothing but stupid decisions with my life. From turning down six figure jobs, the potential to go to law school, unexpectadly quitting two promising jobs I poured my heart and soul into, to drinking my issues away. I probably have given every person I’ve met a reason I won’t make it in life.

My Goals

I guess my goals other than maybe the major life track things are to just write things down. My therapist thinks I should write more. That it will help me understand the things in my head. It will also help me become a better writer which at the end of the day is all I really want. My life up until has been so indesicive. I have in no way carved a path for myself. Maybe this will help me at least find something? I really like reading Russian literature, however right now that really only means Fyodor Dostoevsky. I really enjoy other kinds of literature like American 20th century (Steinbeck, Hemingway) but have been really interested in Dostoevsky and plan on trying to read most of his works. Currently I have only read

• Crime and Punishment
• Notes from a Dead House
• The Double

I never said I was deep in the weeds, just that its the most interesting me now. Which at anytime could totally change and you could be reading my thoughts on Dante or Heigel without a single wink to Russian literature. But I digress I’m still working on a lot. I will write most of my articles on things I find interesting, this may be a book, a movie, articles, or just some critique I feel the need to write about. I also have been currently trying to learn the Russian language. This started as a half witted attempt but it is a goal I have taken more seriously over the last 2 months and plan on using it. By no means will you see articles pop up in Russian but I might at some point show off how much I can get down on paper in Руский.

Notes on the blog

I by no means am a visually inclined person, nor do I know how to work CSS well. I think over time as I write more articles I will take more liberties creatively but for now the format you are reading will be how articles will look.
